FAQ's

What kind of life changes should I expect as a result of my surgery ?

While cosmetic surgery will provide you with some very positive aesthetic changes, you should still be realistic about your results.  It is the goal of the surgeon to ensure the best possible outcome, having cosmetic surgery is not the magic spell for making life’s problems go away.  Unfortunately, far too many people believe that having a cosmetic procedure will change life in such a dramatic fashion that trouble is no more – this is just not the case.  Hopefully, your surgery will make you feel better about yourself, boost your confidence, or make life easier by reducing pain (as in a breast reduction), but you should be realistic and avoid putting all your hopes in your surgery…if you have this mindset, you may consider seeing a counselor prior to your surgery.

Can you make me look like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and so on?

Well, yes and no.  Your surgeon will be able to gear your features in a certain direction, but your bone structure and anatomy will dictate how dramatic your changes will be.  Talk your desires over with your surgeon thoroughly and ask lots of questions.  Your doctor will tell you exactly what can and cannot be done.

How do I choose a Cosmetic Surgeon?

Even before you meet the surgeon, cosmetic surgery requires both time and effort. Research and identify your top five candidates and then proceed to interview them either face to face or over the phone. Yes, we want you to become our patient, but realistic comparisons are necessary to find a surgeon with whom you are compatible.  We believe our practice to be among the best, but we wouldn’t be doing our job if we told you not to explore your options.  Once you’ve narrowed your choices, investigating the surgeons’ credentials and experience is a must.

What cosmetic surgery procedure should I choose?

When it comes to the actual surgical procedure, the surgeon is the best person to ask. Most people have an idea of what they want before they ever visit a surgeons office, but often times the surgeon will make suggestions to better exemplify the patient’s desired outcome.  After all, your plastic surgeon is an aesthetic expert.  He will know exactly what procedures are right for you anatomically and aesthetically.

What does a cosmetic surgery costs?

Your surgeon’s office will be able to provide you with a price per procedure prior to your decision to undergo surgery.  It is important to bear in mind that a high price is not a guarantee of a talented and competent surgeon, and a low price is not an indication of the opposite.  Instead you should focus on qualifications and experience of the surgeon. Determine the price range of the surgery and make sure you know exactly what is included in the final costs. As with any other investment, investing in yourself will require budgeting

How long is the recovery period?

Most plastic surgeries necessitate at least a couple of days for recovery, and some might require a lot more. In short, your procedure will dictate your recovery, as will your body’s own ability to heal.  Make sure to be specific when discussing both work and recreational activities with your surgeon.

What side effects can I expect?

Every surgery has side effects and possible risks, and it is very important that you have a thorough knowledge of what to expect. Discomfort, swelling, bruising and the like are common side effects. The risk of more serious side effects, like extensive scarring and infections is something you should talk through with your surgeon.  Again, your procedure determines your list of possible side effects.  Some people forget that cosmetic surgery is still surgery, and with any surgery, there are risks involved.

What are my options if I don’t want general anesthesia or ‘actual’ surgery?

Most surgeons offer a wide variety of options for improving upon your appearance without going under the knife.  Laser procedures and the like are very common choices for those who don’t want general anesthesia.  Visit our services page to review some of the options we offer.  You may also consider talking to your surgeon about your options.  Chances are he will offer an extensive list of alternatives.
